The Pool

When I came on the board I was brought up to speed on the Pool situation. In the March 24, 2016 Meeting the board approved the procurement and construction services for the pool renovation for $12,500.  Apparently a contractor did send in estimates for the resurfacing of the pool and the pool slide, further investigation has found the tower for the slide in in serious disrepair and the contractor reported to us in email that:

“We recently went back  to see the slide and did a much closer inspection of the tower. The upper portion of the tower is made of stucco over frame. We believe it would be a disservice to you to put this slide around that older tower. The roof on the tower is rusted thru and a lot of the wood is rotten.”

Looking at what it would take to bring in a crane and dismantle the slide; you would tear up pavers, fencing and play areas.  It is probably smarter to do both projects at the same time to avoid 2 closures and restoring torn up areas twice, that is just fiscally responsible.

It is also my understanding that we do have funding set aside already for the Pool restoration, It is also my understanding it was planned to award a contract and get the pool closed in January (it has to be drained)  and get this taken care of before Spring.  Well it is January so I will be looking to get this back on track tonight, hopefully my colleagues will too, and get it to an approval to move forward.
