Please attend the CDD Meeting on Thursday April 20th 6 pm at our beautiful Mira Bay Clubhouse to see a presentation by Foundation Masters Engineer and Project Manager for an alternate and cost effective solution that does not use rip-rap for the stabilization of the Seawall.
Having spent the last 3 months talking to Engineering firms and construction firms looking for input for a solution to our seawall issue, Foundation Masters was the only firm to step up (they have asked for no compensation) and offer an alternative.
(Note: many other firms actually refused to work in Mira Bay).
The Foundation Masters Engineer is a Licensed Civil Engineer in the state of Florida. They are listed on the CDD public website in the agenda. Page 114
From Foundation Masters:
Presentation by Foundation Masters to discuss optional viable solutions to stabilize the seawall. Please find attached the preliminary concept drawing for the seawall repair. I included a written description on the drawing of the concept behind the design. The preliminary cost per 1000 foot section of the repair is $500 per linear foot of wall. This includes labor and materials to construct the repair, as well as Engineering oversight and sign-off of the installation. The building department requires an engineer to be on site during installation.
I spoke with the Project Manager about the cost estimate, his reply was they wanted to get something on paper for a small job, (1000 feet), however he explained the costing over a large area would go down but he said it can discussed in their full presentation.
The meeting originally was to be with Foundation Masters, myself, the Langan engineers and the chairman. The meeting would have allowed a more thorough engineering review by all parties and all the nuances that may come up, but since agreeing to the meeting, one issue after another was sent my way, which I acquiesced to each one to make sure this meeting took place. Unfortunate, but the issues kept rolling in to the point it was impossible to meet them.
Disappointed that the well-being of Mira Bay may have missed an opportunity, and even though there won’t be enough time for attention to the details, I felt it was more important this be presented to Mira Bay residents and was able to add the presentation to the agenda.
Please come out and attend the presentation by Foundation Masters.
