Red Tree Structural Trimming- the Facts

I am sure we have all seen this :

“$30,000 refund request

The Board executed a $30,000 proposal with RedTree to prune the District’s 200 oak trees, even though oak tree pruning is included in the District’s basic contract with Redtree. I believe residents should be refunded the entire $30,000.~P. Curley”

Here is the Facts:

Oak tree pruning is included in the District’s basic contract with Redtree. This is Factual, but we must read what that includes and not make assumptions;  The trimming is known as right of way trimming, this means to trim the Oaks up to 10 feet on the pedestrian side and 15 feet on the Roadway side.

The District spent $30K on Structural Trimming, this is above the 15 foot level.  This requires a whole different set of OSHA and permit requirements, a bucket loader and other gear and qualified individuals to actual go above the 15 feet level.

if you want to see what structural trimming looks like, please go look at the Oaks by the  green area by the pool behind the clubhouse play-ground.

Thus NO we are not paying Red Tree extra for something
(Paul Harvey–good day)

On a personal note:  when voting in your new Supervisor’s for 2022, please make sure they understand the contracts before putting out mis-information and further more understand the Government /Contractor relationship; Supervisors do NOT have a personal services contract with our vendors.
IN the simplistic of terms: Supervisors are NOT to direct how the Staff  works or their day to day activities, this leads to chaos and loss of District taxpayer dollars.
