Throwing around the word terrorist, especially those that have never been affected by or served in such theaters is reprehensible.

unlawfully using violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.
“a terrorist organization”
It was the evening of April 14, 1988 a car bomb exploded outside a packed USO club in Naples Italy, killing Petty Officer 3rd Class Angela Santos, a 21-year-old radioman from Ocala, Fla, the bombing was carried out by the Japanese Red Army a terrorist organization who trained in Lebanon and to have close ties to Middle East terrorist groups.
A police officer in Naples said that three men and two women were known to have been killed in the blast tonight and that;
Several of the victims were so badly mutilated that their identities or nationalities could not be immediately established.
read that again…..
Several of the victims were so badly mutilated that their identities or nationalities could not be immediately established.
She was my shipmate,
We served together Naval Communications Area Master Station Naples Italy, I was on watch that fateful night not far from the attack, that night the base went on imminent attack alert, the force protection marines were deployed, the command went on lock down it was one of the worst nights to endure especially knowing one of “ours” was killed. Where as most people read a headline of a bombing for a day or two, I and my shipmates had to deal with the carnage and aftermath for weeks.
On the morning of Thursday, 12 October 2000, USS Cole, was attacked by the terrorist organization al-Qaeda . a militant Sunni Islamist multi-national organization founded in 1988 by Osama bin Laden, Seventeen sailors were killed and 39 were injured in the blast. I also served with some of these sailors.
17 May, 1987, An Iraqi pilot attacked USS Stark in a Dassault Falcon 50 modified business jet armed with two Exocet missiles, the Dassault is NOT a military aircraft, so this was considered a terrorist type attack.
Thirty-seven United States Navy personnel were killed and twenty-one were injured. Including RM2 Jerry Boyd Farr, another shipmate of mine from NAVCMAS MED.
Those are examples of a terrorists…. NOT …what is written here about Mira Bay Residents
In the modern post-9/11, calling someone a “terrorist” is among the worst things you can do. Definitely don’t joke about it in airport security lines. For a Government official to utter such nonsense is going out of bounds especially for politically driven ideology. Misuse of government power, such as repression of political opponents, can also be considered political corruption. Corruption undermines the legitimacy of government and such democratic values as trust and tolerance.
It is irresponsible of anyone in a position of authority, especially one who is also responsible for the common good of the Mira Bay community, to use such language that only divides us further. It is incumbent upon all of us Supervisors to address this growing divide not contribute to it.
