Design Build RFP:

Lots of speculation of what is in the RFP, Rip rap in? rip rap out?   The answer is ……Neither…

This is a Request for vendors to bid on how they will fix the wall, whatever that fix is; they will tell us, and they can give/provide differant options as well!!!

More importantly there will be a fixed firm price for the cost per liener foot. The cost will include all material, labor and Engineering required as one price.

No more Cost plus !!  for Engineering services if the contractor makes an error, no more testing to see if thier product works, no more endless measurments of “in house use only” metrics.  The Design Build RFP intention is to finally give us a quote with a FIRM real number attached to actually fix the wall once and for all…  Plus we have over-site; Cardno, who is our district Engineer.  Cardno has told us they have Civil, Structuaral, Geotech, Electrical Engineers on staff to go to for any issue. Not only that, we own all the intellectual property, documentation, charts, drawings, writeups, etc that we paid for from the last engineering firm as well as the previous engineering firms, and Cardno has access to it all and can give it to the winning bidder.
