Hello MiraBay,
There is a lot of conjecture going around about the Main Pool closing for the summer for repairs. Lets get to the facts and dispel the rumors.
NO the Pool is not sinking, our Engineers have been surveying the Pool for some time now, there is ZERO indication of the Pool sinking anywhere.
NO the heater systems does not take numerous months to fix,
It was the legal paperwork for an easement required from a private 3rd party that took the all the time, that has been resolved.
HOW? We went a new direction for heating the pool that eliminates the need for the easement.
NO the Pool will NOT be closed for 3 Months.
YES the Pool is closing, it will be for about 3 – 4 weeks. I just had a long talk with our CDD Engineers, here is what is going on
The Pool must be drained for the repairs of the crack in the Narrows of the pool; which will take approximately 3-4 weeks according to the vendor and Engineers.
The Pool must also be drained for the new Heating System, (The Big Bopper). Staff and the Engineers are scheduling the installs to coincide, if they can not, the Engineers are looking to do the Heating parts that requires the draining at the same time as the expansion joint repair and then finish the above ground heating parts later (the Heaters themselves are manufactured on an as needed basis (they are not just on a shelf).
What happened, why did it crack?
Most Likely; Ground movement, which can cause the pool to crack such as hydrostatic pressure from groundwater. The original build of the pool took this into consideration and does have one expansion joint in the narrows, but the joint itself did NOT reach above the sill of the pool.
In other words it stopped short on both sides thus technically not completing a constant expansion joint end to end. There is your problem!!
The 2 new expansion joints will be the full length of the pool bottom and sides end to end.
Lets allow our Staff get all these variables in order so they can advertise a more precise timeline.
I sincerely hope this helps,
Respectfully~Tim
and PS.
YES !!!! a Doggie Swim before the draining is expected !!!
