Let’s get right to it: A Roving Patrol that will be linked to Envera was unanimously approved.
First I want to thank my fellow supervisors for allowing me to give an explanation of how the system is designed to work, questions were asked, ideas were bounced off of each other and (at least IMO) was a great conversation that led to a very good understanding for all of us so we could move forward.
Residents did not hear this, as this was in the closed session. Unlike the beginning of the meeting when security first came up; I had to be very careful in talking about security in how it could be done with the technology we have in place. The closed session allowed me to convey those details to my fellow supervisors.
There is no simple solution to security, much time was devoted to this. Granted: most of Mira Bay was witness to criminal events recently, however this was already in the works for some time. Supervisor McNeil was the first to want a better physical system by moving to one gate at the main entrance, (Note: I wholeheartedly support him on that). Since that time we have had issues arise within our boundaries about 6 to 8 months ago. In one of my DOD work trips that was security related and since the single gate is a long time off; I started to look into what can we do now ?? I met with the security people and learned in what they do.
We already have Envera in place under contract: Working with Envera, plus more research, I looked to a turn key company for roving security linking it with Envera.
Fast forward to CDD Board meeting 8-16-18; The Board came together and we directed staff to work with a turn key vendor for roving patrol, along with Envera to do an integrated electronic surveillance, and physical security system.
