New RFP will be for a Design Build

It has always been my mission to find a cost effective alternative and felt that a RFP for design proposal was the best option to allow Contractors (and I knew they were out there if one looks hard enough) present their own unique designs and pricing.

That mission was to save ALL of Mira Bay money in the long run,….. ……an emphatic YES…. even for those who did beat me up quit a bit , I never wanted to see you suffer in your wallets either, b/c regardless of what you think of me you are still my neighbors and I truly believe that being a Supervisor requires that I try to do the right thing for you all.

I could have brought up the motion to go with an RFP for design build myself, I had actually planned on doing it at the appropriate time, but we all know, since I am the lone wolf , I was aware I would be subjected to all out rejection, but when one of the big 3 brought it up …wellllll…….frankly…. it was fine with me.

Bottom line: if I was well received along those lines that would have been great. However Joe brought it up and was well received in moving the entire board towards an RFP design build.

There has been a lot of talk of who should get the credit on social media, well…I have been saying for months an RFQ based on Langan design was not the right way to go, but allow an RFP go out and allow any contractor to bid their own viable design……..The fact that Joe moved that direction  first; does not matter he beat me to it.  I am just happy that it happened, because at the end of the day all of Mira Bay will benefit and that is more important to me that Mira Bay benefits than me receiving an accolades.
